On Monday, July 22, 2013, over 450 members of Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) along with their families and employees came together for the 17th consecutive year to provide landscape and lawn care services to Arlington National Cemetery. PLANET is the national landscape industry association for the Green Industry. Members came from across the U.S. to donate their time, equipment and products to beautify this national treasure. I am proud to say Spring-Green has participated in this event every year since its inception. We have had franchisees as well as corporate employees attend in the past. This year, I was able to attend along with Ted Hofer, CEO of Spring-Green. This was my 4th time attending and Ted's 6th visit. We were assigned to the core aeration detail and helped aerate close to 15 acres of turf. As you are working, you can't help but notice all the names of those that have served our country and many who paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives to protect our freedoms. It is both awe-inspiring and humbling when you see the rolling hills covered by rows and rows of headstones. I strongly recommend that every American make plans to visit this hallowed ground sometime during their life time. You truly walk away with a renewed appreciation of the sacrifice that so many made in service to their country.
