Lawn Care Day of Service Project in Central & Northern Illinois
Lawn Care Day of Service Project in Central & Northern Illinois
On Saturday, April 20, the Illinois Professional Lawn Care Association (IPLCA) completed a service project at the Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Illinois. This is the second year in a row that we have provided lawn care and landscape services to help beautify the grounds at the cemetery. Member companies from Central and Northern Illinois pitched in to aerate, over seed, fertilize, add new plant materials and spread mulch to selected areas across the cemetery grounds.
This project was in conjunction with our national organization, the Professional Land Care Network or PLANET . Every year PLANET organizes Green Industry companies across the U.S. to volunteer their time and resources and provide lawn care and landscaping services to various community locations.
The IPLCA has participated in this event for the last 5 years at both the Danville National Cemetery and at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet, Illinois. It has been an honor to work the properties and help to beautify the final resting place for many of our fallen heroes.
I want to thank all the people that helped to complete the project on April 20. We had representatives from 8 different lawn and landscape companies who all work together that day. We also had donations of fertilizer , plant materials, grass seed, soil amendments and mulch from several vendors and manufacturers.
