5 Things to Look Into Before Choosing Your Lawn Care Provider
Most major cities and metropolitan areas, offer a wide variety of choices of lawn care companies.
From small mom and pop companies to a major player in the Green Industry, the decision on which company to choose can be confusing and pose a real challenge.
Doing some research into the company and the services offered is a good starting point. Here are some suggestions from the National Association of Landscape Professionals website, www.loveyourlandscape.org:
- Seek companies that are members of national, state and local industry association. If the company is affiliated with one of these organizations, you can have confidence that they are concerned about quality and excellence. Ask if the company is a member of one of these associations.
- Ask friends and neighbors to recommend companies they have used successfully. Your neighbors and friends will give you an honest opinion of the services that they use.
- Ask how long the company has been in business and the experience level of its staff. A business that has been around a long time usually means that they are doing the work the right way. If it is a new company, ask what level experience the owner has and what type of support system is available to help with answers or concerns.
- Ask if the company and its employees are licensed. In most states, the individuals that actually make the applications to your lawn must pass a state pesticide test. In many cases, the company itself has to be licensed by the state as well. You want to make sure that the people who will be applying pest control products to your lawn understand the importance of making proper applications.
- Ask for references. Ask if the company services any other lawns in the area. At least this will give you a chance to see if that lawn looks good.
It may be a temptation to choose the cheapest lawn care company, but without doing some fact finding, you may regret your choice.
