Earwigs are small insects with reddish-brown bodies, long antennae and two pinchers at the end of their bodies. They are scary-looking but harmless.
HABITAT
Earwigs live outside and will migrate indoors when the weather gets cooler, looking for food. Earwigs prefer dark, humid places such as firewood piles, as well as under stones, logs, shrubs and bushes.
Earwigs are nocturnal and hide during the day. They eat plants and other insects. Since earwigs are attracted to light, they become a nuisance on porches and patios during the summer.
